Jeremy “JD” Douglas comes from a forestry background and has over 15 years of real estate experience in rural land and commercial leasing. A registered forester from Arkansas, Jeremy was mentored by H.R. Little, one of the great timber barons of Alabama, where he learned the art of wood dealership, and to manage all aspects of buying, harvesting, merchandizing, and selling timber and timberland. It has been this platform that has allowed him to build on the importance of valuation in real estate investment throughout his career.
After several years of trading in Alabama and Tennessee, and becoming the most profitable producer for the firm, Jeremy was recruited as an Asset Manager by a Fortune 500 company and the largest private landowner in Florida at that time, The St. Joe Company. At St. Joe, Jeremy learned the collaborative approach to large scale development processes, working with a team of land professionals from backgrounds like construction, accounting, architecture, entitlement, appraisal, and law. One particular timberland sale he helped value was for approximately 40,000 acres.
Jeremy was later recruited by a State of Florida agency to manage a large portfolio of over a million square feet of commercial leases throughout the state, including retail, land, communication towers, and hangars. During a single fiscal period, he and his bureau chief were able to successfully renegotiate approximately 40% of the private sector retail leases (without relocation), resulting in a departmental savings of over one million dollars. There he also composed requests for proposal to solicit for new turnkey spaces, working through build-out and occupancy as well as construction improvements on state owned buildings, including improvements and space planning for the largest owned office building in the Florida state inventory at 380,000 square feet.
Throughout his career in both the public and private sectors, he has focused on adding value through procurements, valuations, market studies for highest and best use, negotiations, and management of contracts and contractor relationships in pursuit of profitable business management.
Jeremy graduated from the University of Arkansas at Monticello with a B.S. in Forestry and from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with an MBA. He has been an active member of Rotary Club, Business Networking International, Society of Human Resource Professionals (SHRM), and the Society of American Foresters. He is a licensed sales agent in Texas, and focuses on rural properties as well as commercial leasing. He is proud to call Willis, TX his new home and spends most of his free time with his wife and their “wrecking crew” of four daughters (please remember him in your prayers)!
